As a photographer, one of my favorite parts of the job is location scouting. I love exploring my community and finding new places to shoot.
A location can set the tone for the shoot. Taking photos in a gorgeous location is an instant mood booster and not only makes your experience more enjoyable, but also creates stunning photos. It's important to find the right location when taking photos. You want to find something that fits the style and personality of the shoot. Not all places look as great in the winter as they would in the fall. As real estate agents would say, it's all about location, location, location!
Northwest Ohio is full of unique and beautiful places. You don't have to travel far to find awesome locations. Even here in Tiffin, Ohio I've found places that look great in every season. These locations can help achieve any vibe you're going for in your photo shoot.
1.For a Classy Look…The Bowe House Inn
The Bowe House Inn is a beautiful brick home that's more than 160 years old and located at the corner of Franklin and Miami streets in Tiffin. It has a rich history and can be rented out for events. The house is incredible and has stood the test of time. You can wear business clothes and make it a professional environment or it can be used as a warm home environment. It's a smaller location so it won't take much time to walk around, but there is still plenty of opportunities for photos all around the inn. The Bowe House Inn is open all year long and produces a cute backdrop no matter if it's covered in snow or summer sunshine. This is the perfect location for engagement photos for a timeless and classic look or for professional business headshots.
2. For an Urban Look…Cherry Alley
Cherry Alley is a newer addition to Tiffin, Ohio and a welcome addition. Located across the street from the Ritz, Cherry Alley has strings of lights, hanging plants, flowers, and vibrant red brick. It's the perfect place to visit at sunset when they turn on the lights. It's almost like you aren't in Tiffin anymore making it perfect for senior photos and couples. Beyond the magic of Cherry Alley there are many interesting spots in downtown Tiffin. I could spend all day taking photos downtown. If you're fashion forward downtown is the perfect scene for you, but Cherry Alley can have a softer feel.
3. For a Nature-Filled Magical Look…Forrest Nature Preserve
Forrest Nature Preserve is a 47 Acre park off of East County Road in Tiffin. It has meadows filled with flowers and butterflies during warmer weather and red reeds in the colder months. There are trails by the river, a few rustic bridges, and a forest that creates an incredible backdrop, especially when the leaves are falling. It's a bit of a hike because it's a large park, but there's so many great sections that it can look like multiple different nature locations. Maternity photos or children's photos look amazing here. The meadows are perfect for individuals or creators looking for that Instagram look of flower fields.
4. For a Romantic Look…Tiffin Developmental Center
The Tiffin Developmental Center used to be the National Orphans Home which homed hundreds of fatherless children from all over the country in the early 1900s through the Great Depression and the World Wars. After, it was known as the Tiffin State Hospital and served only mentally ill patients and today it offers a variety of services to individuals with severe and profound mental disabilities. Located on North River Road, it is also one of my favorite places to take photos. There's a charming willow tree, a stream with a lovely bridge and a homely fence. More than that there's an open field, a corn field, and a barn which all create appealing backgrounds. There's a gazebo and even a greenhouse on the grounds. The Tiffin Developmental Center makes family photos look dazzling and is wonderful for engagement photos.
5. For a Place That Does It All…The Train Depot
The Train Depot does it all. Senior photos, prom photos, engagement photos, family photos, pet photos, brand photos, or individual photos? The Tiffin Train Depot has got you covered. It's located on North Monroe Street. It has bright colored backgrounds from a red building with green doors to a teal fence. There's ponds and small waterfalls, marvelous rock formations, and pine trees for an evergreen environment. It's the ideal location for ANY kind of photo no matter the time of year.
There is always somewhere that can give you your ideal look for your photo shoot. These are just 5 examples, there are many more out there.
Shout out to Vickey Young for modeling for me in these photos.
